Petronella Grahn (b. 1970, Helsinki) is a Finnish fairytale artist, mural artist, writer, illustrator, designer, mother of six, and creator of internationally developing storyworlds and creator-owned IP ecosystems.
For over three decades, she has built immersive visual worlds where storytelling, design, illustration, pedagogy, and intellectual property merge into multi-channel creative ecosystems.
In 1997, Grahn founded the children’s lifestyle brand Tinttu.com, whose products were distributed internationally across Europe and Asia. Even then, the core of her work was rooted in imagination, play, storytelling, and a strong visual identity.
Later, bedtime stories evolved into the magical world of Pomenia — a complete visual and narrative universe that expanded into books, educational games, murals, design collections, and a creator-owned world now moving into international audiovisual development.
Fairytale Design by Petronella Grahn brings together Grahn’s visual universe through artistic textiles, wallpapers, and lifestyle collections where imagination, atmosphere, and storytelling form one unified aesthetic language.
Today, the world of Pomenia is expanding into international animation development through collaboration with BAFTA-winning Studio Liddell — the next chapter in a storyworld built through long-term visual vision and independent worldbuilding.
Grahn continues to serve as the creator of the storyworld, visual aesthetics, and creative direction behind the evolving universe.
What changes is not the heart of the world — only its scale.
“In this work — or perhaps calling — it has never been only about technique, education, or creating beautiful things, even though every line, detail, and world is carefully considered.
It is about creating something that moves people, awakens imagination, and reminds us of moments when everything still felt possible — and perhaps even more importantly, dreams we have not yet dared to imagine.
I believe stories, imagination, and magic can change the world — one story, one heartbeat, and one moment at a time.
And once you truly see the world through fairytale eyes, you never quite see it the same way again.”
