A brief history of Pomenia's play and games:
“Children don’t need toys or adults to play with (in order to learn new skills).”
It all started with an observation I made about my own children:
children learn best not through teaching, but through play – and above all through the power of fairy tales and stories.
The Nelli Children’s Playground, which I founded, was born from this insight.
I wanted a place where children could play their own games – freely, safely, and on their own terms.
Adults were there for safety reasons, but not as supervisors.
Play does not serve the needs of adults, but rather the growth of children.
This idea later gave rise to the world of Pomenia games and play, which continues the same philosophy: children learn best when they are allowed to imagine, experiment, play around, and make up their own rules through the power of stories.
Pomenia games are not just teaching tools – they are experiences that combine fairy tales, emotions, and teamwork.
The fairy tale adventure board game develops strategic thinking, cooperation skills, and emotional skills as players work together to help Pomenia’s heroes and rescue the fairy Sinopia Surly from the cave of The Wicked Warlock.
The action cards encourage imagination, play, creativity, self-expression, and problem-solving through story-based tasks.
These games and activities are not based on curricula or theoretical models, but on life, parenting, and observations of how children really grow – through play.
Pomenia’s games are not just entertaining, they also educate, encourage creativity and self-expression, and strengthen social skills. They bring families together, spark conversations, and create moments where everyday life becomes play – and play becomes learning.

Pomenia's fairy tale adventure board game is the perfect choice for family fun! The game has a reversible game board that offers two different games: a day game and a night game. The day game encourages the development of motor skills, emotional skills, and social skills through play and movement. The night game, on the other hand, calms players down and offers quiet tasks that help little players relax and get ready for bed.

Pomenia's educational activity cards are an inspiring way to encourage children to try new things and discover their own courage. Each card features a short story from Pomenia's magical world, accompanied by a task that challenges their courage. These tasks help children discover and develop different magical powers of courage within themselves.

Coloring books
Get to know the fun-loving characters of the Magic World through coloring and unleash your inner adventurer! Pomenia's coloring book (A4) provides hours of magical fun. The huge coloring paper roll is a generous 100 cm wide and 2.5 m long. There are delightful fairy-tale landscapes, fairy-tale characters, and lots of details to color. Suitable for watercolors, bottle paints, and acrylic paints, as well as colored pencils, wax crayons, markers, and chalk.
Fairytale Adventure Board Game
Here is one of our favorite fairy tales! The fairy tale adventure board game is a fun and educational activity for family time. Every child knows how to play and wants to play in their own way, as long as they have the opportunity to do so. Adults can provide opportunities for play and create a playful atmosphere. That’s why we made this board game!
“The magical world of Pomenia is in danger, because Käämä, the Wizard of Darkness, wants to stop the collection of magic dust and preserve eternal winter. Käämä has captured the fairy Ruttu and hidden the magical objects of the Pomenians. Without the magic items, the fairy cannot be saved, and Pomenia will fade and wither away. Now we need courage, perseverance, cooperation, and new magical powers!”
This fairy tale adventure game for the whole family features a reversible game board that includes two different games: a day game and a night game. As the game progresses, players learn important magical powers, such as emotional skills and calming techniques, without forgetting about play and movement!
The game was created and illustrated by Petronella Grahn. The activity card tasks were designed by Heli Mäkelä and Anu Lustig-Lonka.
Emotional adventure cards
How do you feel right now? Is your mustache twitching, are your toes tingling with joy? Little Fox is a little confused. He knows that something is stirring inside him, but he doesn’t know what it is. Is he wildly excited or just a little annoyed? Or is he perhaps just a tiny bit angry?
Use creative emotional work to find out what these wonderful feelings are all about. At the same time, you will strengthen your imagination and experience moments of relaxation and calm. Each emotion adventure card contains a captivating short story and a task.
The cards were created and illustrated by Petronella Grahn. The exercises were designed by occupational therapist, mindfulness instructor, and emotional skills instructor Heli Mäkelä.

The Fairytale Yoga cards
Hee-hee-hee-hee-hee! Can you hear that giggling too? Over there, the trolls Theo and TulaTangly are doing fairy tale yoga with their friends. Come and join them!
Pomenia’s fairy tale yoga cards offer plenty of joyful exercise and activity, not to mention fairy tale adventures. Each card features a short story and a related exercise example for trying out fairy tale yoga. Fairy tale yoga can be done independently or with a friend. The fairy tale encourages you to live in the moment and move in new and developmental ways. The cards help maintain natural mobility and strengthen body awareness.
Pomenia fairy tale yoga cards are based on the world of Pomenia, created by fairy tale artist Petronella Grahn. The tasks on the cards were designed by Anu Lustig-Lonka, a yoga teacher for children and young people.
The Pomenia fairy tale yoga card pack contains 34 cards, each with a short story and a related fairy tale yoga movement. The fun exercises on the fairy tale yoga cards can be done at your own pace in your living room, in the yard wearing rain pants, on a forest trip with your siblings, or even as part of a program at a children’s birthday party.

Welcome to an adventure toward courage and bravery together with the dragon Scarytale!
The Pomenia courage card deck contains 32 cards, each with a short story from the magical world of Pomenia and a related task or reflection. The exercises help you discover new and varied forms of courage in yourself and others. Hiphei! Just think of all the things you can dare to do with a little encouragement and practice. You’ll be surprised! And don’t worry, you can do it.
The card tasks were created and designed in collaboration with TM Tiia Trogen and Petronella Grahn.

“In the magical world of Pomenia, The Wicked Warlock awoke to the sound of terrible noise and revelry coming from outside. He was already in a bad mood
(as always), but now he was in an even worse mood.
“Argh! Enough!” he shouted and decided that all the fuss and revelry surrounding the collection of magic dust should come to an end for one day. So he stepped out of his cave, stretched his long fingers, raised his hands like a conductor and cast a spell:
I call upon the wind, I call upon the storm!
Put everything in the whirlwind!
Blow those collectors away,
who won’t leave me alone.
So that I can finally sleep,
Onward to Pomenia’s magic land!
Having said that, The Wicked Warlock marched back to his bed, pulled the blanket over his ears, and continued to sleep contentedly. The fierce storm wind picked up speed and blew
Interrupting the flower bed to collect The Magic Fairy Dust. Oh no! Everything went haywire! The magic dust bags flew everywhere.
Hujan Hajan, and what’s more, my collection buddy and FAIRIES went missing. Disaster! Help the people of Pomenia find the lost fairies.
