Come along on a fairy tale adventure just as you are. Welcome!

Teagan the Tangly Troll
A true troll cub — even though he is also a human child. In the human world he is called Theo, but in Pomenia he becomes Teagan the Tangly Troll. Teagan is therefore a Pomenian who lives in two worlds at once.
The Magic Fountain foretells his arrival and describes the troll as “small, tangly, and determined.” And oh, what a perfectly accurate prophecy that turns out to be.
Teagan’s closest friend and fearless adventure-companion in Pomenia is the dragon Scarytale. Teagan sometimes trips over his own tail, gets lost, tumbles about and muddles things up — but his troll heart is always exactly where it should be.
“In the magical world, we adventure as magical beings. And humans are magical too — they just forget it. But as a troll, you remember better,” explains Merlo Dreamweaver, as he reveals why Teagan shifts into his troll form.

Scarytale the Dragon
Scarytale is a young dragon with far more skill — and far more magic — than he himself realises. Although he sometimes gets a little tangled up in his own tricks (especially when it comes to fire-breathing), he is otherwise a harmless and gentle creature
To protect his delicate, ever-so-special little dragon paws from pine needles and sharp stones, Scarytale wears woolly socks. Enormous, mismatched woolly socks. In fact, he has mountains of them, and he always, always wears a pair.
Scarytale has a tremendous sweet tooth, and you can easily follow his trail by spotting empty candy wrappers glittering on the ground. Sometimes he grumbles, sometimes he hesitates, and even though he is a fire-hearted dragon, he warms up to new things rather slowly
But once he gets going… oh my!
Then he can be wonderfully wild — even a little rambunctious — in the most delightful, dragonish way imaginable.

Tula the Tangly Troll
Tula is very much a troll cub when she adventures through Pomenia — and she is also Theo’s little sister! No one truly knows which sibling is the tanglier or the more determined one. Sometimes it’s Theo who gives in to his sister (almost always, and in all the right moments), and sometimes it’s Tula — who very rarely gives in to anything at all. Tula’s best friend is Frida the Butterfly, who, true to her name, is far stronger than anyone would ever expect from a butterfly at first glance. Together, Tula and Frida make quite the adventurous duo — and their stories will be told in Pomenia for a very, very long time.

Lady Lily Dragon
Lady Lily Dragon is a gentle, empathetic and wonderfully independent dragon lady. She lives in a little cottage on Posy Meadow, where each day she goes searching for the loveliest flower in the whole meadow — and each day she finds it
Lily discovers beauty everywhere and in everyone.
According to Scarytale (and according to herself as well), Lady Lily Dragon is simply ma-gni-fi-cent.
Lily changes her clothes twice a day — sometimes even three times — always choosing swirling dance shoes and a shimmering beauty cape. She surrounds herself with colour, charm and all things lovely, for beauty is her favourite kind of magic

The Fairies
There are about seven fairies in Pomenia — at least the last time I counted.
Fairies adore dancing, dressing up and enjoying delicious treats. Their home, tucked inside the Grand Oak on the Sunrise side, is always in a state of delightful chaos. Fairies are not quiet creatures, nor do they tidy up until the situation becomes absolutely unavoidable.
The fairies have a most important task:
From early summer mornings to late golden evenings, they flutter from flower to flower in Posy Meadow and Prettyfield, using their tiny magic spoons to collect shimmering magic fairydust into their little pouches. They then carry the dust to Princess Petronella in the Enchanted Castle.
Magic fairydust is essential — for winter, for wonder and for all good things.
Fairydust makes life sweet, sparkly and happy! ( Dahlia Daydreamer, Lilac Lovely,Marigold Merry,Sinopia Surly,Fuchsia Fantastic, Saphron Sparkle and Scarlet Sunrise.)

Sinopia Surly
Sinopia Surly is the only fairy brave enough to face Spite McGnarly without so much as a quiver. She is an independent, self-assured and fiercely solution-minded fairy who does everything entirely in her own way — often swimming straight against the current.
Some have even called her “the Apocalypse Fairy.”
And oddly enough, it suits her. Sinopia and Spite understand one another in a strange, sharp-edged sort of way. They challenge each other just enough, spark each other’s minds, and provide the kind of opposition that keeps both of them… intrigued.
Like all fairies, Sinopia loves to dance.
But she also believes that life should hold more than soft, sunny fairy days — it needs grit, daring and a handful of magnificent storms.

WELCOME IN!

Princess Petronella & Aneira Goldycorn
Princess Petronella lives in a glass Enchanted Castle, deep in the heart of the Bluewood Forest. She receives the magic fairydust gathered by the fairies and shares it from the castle out to all of Pomenia. From the bottom of her heart, she wishes that everyone, everywhere, could feel truly well and happy.
Her arrival at the castle is one of the oldest tales in all of Pomenia.
The Princess leaves the castle only very rarely — and even then, most often in secret.
“Shhh, softly now.
Don’t tell a soul I’m slipping away.
On tippy-toes I’ll sneak along
to Heart Tree’s side
and tug the golden moon down from the sky.”
Princess Petronella’s most trusted companion is the unicorn Aneira Goldycorn.
Sunsmile has spun sunlight into her mane and tail, and her coat shimmers with silver and sparkle. By day, Aneira grazes in Prettyfield, and at night she sleeps safely in the Bluewood Forest.

Monsieur Mouse
Monsieur Mouse approaches every situation through attire. Dressing up is not vanity for him — oh no — it is his uniform, his armour, his necessity, just as a knight depends on his gleaming suit of steel. Even though Monsieur Mouse spends a great deal of time at his wardrobe and in front of his mirrors, he is anything but self-absorbed. In truth, he is the one Pomenian who constantly puts himself on the line for the good of everyone else. His greatest heroic deeds are usually done quietly, almost secretly, as if he wishes no praise at all. Through dressing up, Monsieur Mouse collects experiences and gathers knowledge about life itself. He is endlessly curious and full of zest. In a wolf costume, he can feel what it is like to be a wolf. In a fairy dress, he can explore the world through a fairy’s fluttering heart. And Monsieur Mouse is famously easy to dare into anything — a trait that delights Merlo Dreamweaver to no end

The Bug
The Bug is a wannabe bat — though in truth he is, undeniably, a beetle.
Sharp-tongued, bold and bossy, The Bug speaks his mind, stomps his tiny foot, and gets others moving exactly the way he wants… often without them even realising it
He constantly challenges himself and takes delight in risks. He adores anything brave, daring or reckless — especially things no one has ever tried before. If it makes the heart thump and the wings flutter, The Bug is in.
He is also the official Pomenian Mender, the master of stitching and repairing, and, of course, Scarytale’s bunkmate in their circus tent in the Augury Pines
Koppis is also Pomenia's partner, master seamstress, and Sisu's roommate.

Merlo Dreamweaver
Merlo Dreamweaver moves in the shimmering space between sleep and waking — a wise wanderer who weaves magic with fairydust. He can slip between worlds and sometimes brings news from the human realm back to Pomenia. Merlo is a dear friend of Monsieur Mouse, and as a mischievous humorist he loves daring the Mouse into all sorts of delightful silliness. Calm, airy and effortlessly graceful, Merlo is what you might call “a natural mover.” He climbs, balances and dances with quiet mastery, arranging himself into the most extraordinary poses as if floating on a breeze. On his head sits a hat that reveals his emotions long before he says a word — swaying, curling and twisting in the air, sometimes like a cat’s tail, sometimes like a ribbon of smoke.

Mr. Owl
Mr. Owl is a tired and slow-moving bird who rarely, if ever, takes an interest in anything.
Mr. Owl is a drowsy, slow-moving bird who rarely — if ever — musters the energy to be interested in anything at all.
In his opinion, talking is utterly pointless, because nobody truly understands anybody anyway. Conversation? Bah. Mr. Owl simply does not believe in it.
He knows far too much, and since skills like reading and counting are of very little use in Pomenia, Mr. Owl spends most of his time exactly as he prefers:
Sleeping.
Snore-hoo… kroooh-pyyh… snore-hoo…
Always.
Yet — Hoo-hoo! — whenever he does decide to speak, his words are somehow important, meaningful and strangely profound… even if no one quite grasps why.

Perdita the Witch
Perdita is sharp of tongue and sharp of mind — a witch who neither asks permission to act nor makes promises she has no intention of keeping. Her magic is powerful, peculiar and wholly her own. She never casts the same spell twice, which keeps her sorcery delightfully surprising, wonderfully chaotic and endlessly fun.
Her companions are a cat, Meow Scratches, who suffers from a terrible fear of heights, and Brewbird, a clucking kettle-hen who brews the finest coffee imaginable.
Perdita rides her broom, Mischief-Maker, soaring high above everything and everyone — gloriously, wildly free!
Once upon a time, always upon a time, and now…
Pomenia is a land brimming with joy, play and big-hearted magical beings — but one spring, all beauty blossomed so gloriously that the Wicked Warlock Spite McGnarly became annoyed… and then dangerous.
Spite wished that everyone would stop dancing, stop playing, and live just as he did — quietly, stiffly and unnoticed. He threatened to halt the gathering and sharing of Magic Fairy Dust, and that would mean the end of magic in the entire dreamland.
To save the spring, Pomenia needs the foretold persistent hero, a marvelous parade of outrageous outfits, leaps of courage, flights through sky and imagination, mountains of delicious sandwiches — and, most of all, brave adventuring friends!
The story of Pomenia reminds us that the most important thing of all is to dare to be yourself — whether you are Spite McGnarly, a fairy who adores beauty and goodness, a dragon afraid of flying, or a small tangly-haired troll.
Leap into the adventure of Pomenia!

Spite McGnarly and Houndrel
Spite McGnarly, Pomenia’s Wicked Warlock, is even worse than his reputation suggests — a gloomy grumbler, a muttering mischief-maker, clever yet completely detached from the lively world around him. He wishes everyone would live exactly as he does, for then the whole world would finally feel suitable for him and he would no longer need to retreat into his cave.
The colours and sounds of Pomenia irritate Spite endlessly, and he works tirelessly to snuff out at least some of the joy that fills the land. He does not care for life at all — life is far too impractical, unpredictable and overgrown for his taste. He dislikes celebrations, despises change and rejects anything cheerful.
Nearly all Pomenians fear Spite — and especially the way he lives.
Houndrel, the fearsome bite-and-never-let-go dog, lives with Spite in Gnarlynoggin. He once was a wolf, proud and sharp, and his nose was certainly not pink. But after an encounter with Perdita the Witch, it became permanently rosy.
With his pink nose, Houndrel can sniff out fairies from astonishing distances — a rather embarrassing skill for someone who used to be a wolf.

Shadow Valdemar
Shadow is attached to Spite McGnarly by only the thinnest, faintest strand — yet he can stretch himself wherever he pleases.
He whispers, schemes and spies, sometimes telling the truth, sometimes spinning the sneakiest lies, always delighting in stirring confusion.
Shadow loves steering situations straight into disaster.
He has an even nastier nature than Spite himself, and not a flicker of conscience to soften it.
Shadow is wicked…
oh my — frightfully wicked!

Pinchneedles Sticky and Knots
Sticky and Knots, the fearsome Pinchneedles of the Wicked Warlock Spite McGnarly, stand guard over the gloom of Gnarlynoggin. These sinister sentry-trees have extra-long, needle-sharp branch-hands and twisting, rooty legs that let them scuttle surprisingly fast.
And if you wander too close…
NIPS–NAPS!
They’ll snatch you in an instant — and once they’ve got you, they never let go.
Not until Spite himself comes stomping out to release you…
—or until you cleverly wriggle your way out of their wicked, wooden grip.
They aren’t exactly the wisest trees in the forest (even if a spruce tip can be sharp), but they are dangerous in all the wrong ways. Best to keep your distance. In fact, it’s wise to stay out of the Backwoods Forest altogether unless you have a truly important reason…
…or unless you happen to be a wizard, Houndrel, or a bat.

Tattlebats
There are far too many Tattlebats, and they live packed together in the tiny caves of Gnarlynoggin, also known as the “Gawking Eyes.”
Tattlebats are waily, hairy, wriggly little dashers.
They gossip without end — telling everything they know, and inventing the rest with great enthusiasm.
Their Chief Bat wears a single earring, but the earring rarely stays with the Chief for long. Whenever the Tattlebats start squabbling (which is always), the ring switches owners, flitting from ear to ear in the chaos.
Despite all their screeching, scrapping and scandal-whispering, Tattlebats are really nothing more than a swarm of harmless brawlers…
…as long as you can shut your ears (and preferably your eyes) to all the racket.

Welcome to the night side of Pomenia.

The Little Fox
The Little Fox is a cheerful, ever-curious little fellow. If there is something he doesn’t know, he simply trots off and finds out — and usually drags a few friends along for the adventure. He is the one who often nudges the story forward by asking the questions no one else has thought of yet.
In The Secret of Fairydust, for example, he becomes completely fascinated by fairydust — where it comes from, why it is collected, and what it truly means for all of Pomenia. Because of this, he’s a wonderful role model: encouraging children to stay curious, to explore bravely, and to discover the world one question at a time.
When he’s not investigating something new, The Little Fox loves to play. He knows all the best games, all the finest hiding spots, and all the most thrilling things to do. He is also a very good friend of Pixley and Pinkey, and together they are a trio of endless excitement.

Pixley and Pinkey
Pixley and Pinkey are teeny-tiny bundles of unstoppable energy. Despite their small size, they insist on being right in the middle of every adventure Pomenia has to offer — and preferably at the centre of the excitement.
They are brothers, identical in almost every way, and sometimes even they can’t remember who is who. This constant mix-up, paired with their wildly over-excitable nature, often leads to all sorts of muddles, mishaps and wonderfully chaotic situations.
If something in Pomenia suddenly goes pop, boom, bang or oops…
Pixley and Pinkey are usually not far away..

Mr. Trumpeteer the Troubadour
Mr. Trumpeteer is bursting with life and shimmering with a rainbow of emotions. He jams with the birds, sways with the breeze and savours every moment for its own unique rhythm.
He lives beside the Magic Fountain, Well-o-Wist, nestled in the branches of the Heart Tree.
He doesn’t speak — he plays. A melody can say far more than words ever could.
To Mr. Trumpeteer, every Pomenian is a friend — even the Wicked Warlock Spite McGnarly. His music is woven from everything he sees and feels around him, and each tune is a story of Pomenia, a note essential to completing the great fairytale.
Music lifts him beyond time and place, letting him drift outside Pomenia’s borders just as Merlo Dreamweaver does.
For Mr. Trumpeteer, music isn’t just sound.
Music is magic.

Ticklies & Funnies
Pomenia is teeming with all sorts of tiny critters, each more delightful than the last.
On Prettyfield, you’ll meet Lady Purty, Fumblebee, the mischievous Cobfibbers, and even The Bug’s cousins — the true Beetles.
These little beings build shelters, camp under starlit branches, throw grand feasts, and absolutely adore singing, acting and all manner of silliness.
But their favourite game of all?
Tag!
They’ll play it anywhere — in the grass, up the trees, across the meadow, even upside down if necessary.
And here’s a secret not everyone knows:
they hold the Grand Critter Games four times a year!
I didn’t know it either…
but now I do.
Wohoo!
